چکیده

The sterol A7-cholestenol constitutes a large proportion of the total sterols of rat and mouse skin (5, 7, 18). Whereas the concentration of this sterol is not altered by such factors as diet, metabolic rate (7), and ultraviolet light (13), it decreases rapidly following the application of carcinogenic hydrocarbons to mouse skin (5). This decrease coincides with destruction of the sebaceous glands (3, 9, 11), suggesting a relationship between sebaceous glands and AT-cholestenol. One method of determining such a relationship is the measurement of skin sterols in animals subjected to factors which are known to alter sebaceous glands. Testosterone produces hyperplasia of the sebaceous glands, while high doses of estrogen produce atrophy (~), and castration is followed by decreased sebaceous secretion (4, 10). The sebaceous glands of hairless mice (hr hr) become increasingly cystic with advancing age (8). The present study deals with the effects of castration and hormone treatment on the skin sterols of normal mice, and with the effects of age and of methylcholanthrene applications on the skin sterols of hairless mice.

O-1: Effects of Recipient Mouse Strain, Sex and Gonadal Status on the Outcome of TestisTissue Xenografting

Background: The aim of the present study was to examine factors that may affect the outcome of testis tissue xenografting. Recipient factors were examined by grafting small fragments of testis tissue from newborn piglets under the back skin of immunodeficient mice of different strains [severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) vs. nude), sex (male vs. female) and gonadal status (intact vs. gonade...

The Effects of Refining Operations on Quality and Quantity of Sterols in Canola, Soyabean and Sunflower Seed Oils

Sterols due to their properties might be considered as valuable products to be employed in food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. Vegetable oils, namely canola, soyabean and sunflower seed oils, contain considerable quantities of phytosterols, mainly β–sitosterol. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of refining operations, particularly deodorization on this valuable class...

Histopathological Investigation of the Effect of Ozonated Water on Skin Ulcer Healing Process in Isolation Stress Mouse Model

Background and Objective: Skin ulcers and their slow healing are considered as one of the important medical aspects. Nowadays, various antibiotics and materials are used to accelerate the wound healing process. One of the methods taken in the field of wound healing is using ozone. On the other hand, one of the factors that hurt the speed of wound healing is stress. Therefore, the present study ...

A Certain Class of Character Module Homomorphisms on Normed Algebras

For two normed algebras $A$ and $B$ with the character space   $bigtriangleup(B)neq emptyset$  and a left $B-$module $X,$  a certain class of bounded linear maps from $A$ into $X$ is introduced. We set $CMH_B(A, X)$  as the set of all non-zero $B-$character module homomorphisms from $A$ into $X$. In the case where $bigtriangleup(B)=lbrace varphirbrace$ then $CMH_B(A, X)bigcup lbrace 0rbrace$ is...
